Anderson County 911 received a call at around 5:30pm on November 18 for a motor vehicle crash on
Broadway School Road in Belton. Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS, Whitefield Fire Department, and
the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Responders arrived to find two patients, the
driver self-extricated and the passenger was trapped in the vehicle. Fire personnel extricated the passenger
and transported her to AnMed Health. The driver was treated on scene and released. The passenger
succumbed to her injuries on December 3, 2024 at 1pm.
The victim has been identified as:
Stephanie Denise Bryant
56-year-old female from Honea Path, SC
Preliminary investigation shows that the victim was a passenger in a Kia traveling on Broadway School Road
in Belton. The driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned causing the passenger to be trapped.
The cause of death is due to pulmonary thromboembolis related to multiple traumatic injuries secondary
to blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been ruled accidental. The victim was not wearing a
seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway
Patrol.
Belton, SC| Broadway and Whitefield Fire Departments, Medshore Ambulance Service, and Anderson County EMS Paramedics responded to the 700 Block of Broadway School Road for a vehicle accident with entrapment. The Fire Department had to extricate the patient. The vehicle looked to be a KIA Van. At least one patient was taken to an area hospital for their injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this accident.
