SHELIA WALKER THOMPSON
54-year-old female from Greenville, SC
The victim died as a result of freshwater drowning and the manner of death has been ruled
accidental.
The investigation indicates that the victim was the unrestrained driver of a Kia apparently
traveling west on West Church Road and appears to have lost control of her vehicle and
traveled off the left side of the road and crashed into a creek submerging the vehicle in the
water.
The victim was reported by her family as missing to Greenville County Authorities after she
went missing on December 2, 2024. An individual that was assisting the family, located the
victim’s car in a creek partially submerged under a bridge. The family was also searching in the
area after receiving information that the victim’s cellphone had “pinged” in the area and were on
scene at the time of the discovery.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South
Carolina Highway Patrol.
