Belton, SC| (James Hayes) Ninety-one days ago, Upstatenewstoday.com was founded. Since our founding, we have reached over two hundred and twenty thousand views. We are currently reaching eight hundred and eighty thousand views on Facebook with 3.4K followers. Our top followers are from the Anderson, Belton, and Honea-Path areas. Several weeks back, Elaine Rider (Editor) for the News-Chronicle announced that she would be retiring. Upstatenewstoday.com reached out to Elaine inquiring about what would happen to the News-Chronicle. Elaine stated that the company was up for sale. We showed immediate interest in the company. Through many talks with all the owners involved, we were able to come to an agreement.
The News-Chronicle, in its current state, will print its last paper on December 25, 2024. Upstatenewstoday.com will take over and publish the January 1, 2025 paper. We have been asked what will change with the paper. The short answer is very little. We plan to publish an eight-page paper with local business inserts in the New Year. We will also start offering Subscriptions for our online version of the paper.
We want to preserve the history of the Belton-Honea Path News Chronicle. The Belton News was established in 1925, and the Honea Path Chronicle was established in 1894. The paper’s rich history is remarkable, and we would like to continue into the far future.
We look forward to serving our current readers while adding two more communities. Our January 1, 2025, issue will include the Starr and Iva area.
