Lovers Quarrel Gone Bad |Anderson, SC

Anderson, SC | Employment has been terminated between Anderson County Emergency Medical Services and an EMS Supervisor. Reports obtained from the Sheriff’s Office state that On January 20, 2025, Brittany Marie Shaver, a 28-year-old female, reported to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office that she had been sexually assaulted. Shaver reported that Thomas McElmurray Hornsby had sexually assaulted her. Hornsby, an EMS Supervisor for Anderson County, allegedly had intimate relations with Shaver in his county-issued EMS vehicle while on duty. Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns said the county has a zero-tolerance policy for this type of behavior. Brittany Shaver is a current employee of Medshore Ambulance Service, working in their dispatch center as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher. Per the Sheriff’s Office, Shaver has recanted her statement and has admitted that the sexual assault was a lie and that it was consensual. The Sheriff's Office has charged Shaver with filing a false police report of a felony violation. Shaver was given a $2000.00 surety bond.

Per a PDF report sent to us by the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Brittany Acres in Starr in reference to a sexual assault. Shaver told deputies that Hornsby forcibly raped her. Shaver also told deputies that this incident allegedly occurred on January 12, 2025. It has been rumored that Shaver was currently on the time clock for Medshore Ambulance Service and left to go to the store. Instead of going to the store, she met Thomas Hornsby and had an intimate encounter with him.

The narrative from the incident report stated that on January 20, 2025, I, Deputy Barrett, responded to the incident location in reference to a sexual assault. When I arrived on scene I spoke with the complainant/victim (Shaver, Brittany Marie). She said that the suspect (Hornsby, Thomas McElmurray) sexually assaulted her which included sexual penetration. A Shift Supervisor, Staff Sergeant Villegas, was notified. CID was not notified. Forensics was not notified. The victim was issued a victim’s form.
