Pendleton, SC| Sandy Springs Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County EMS Paramedics, and Anderson County Coroner’s Office responded to Highway 76 at the Michelin Plant for a one-car motor vehicle accident. The vehicle was seen off in the woods. LifeFlight landed at the Michelin Plant but did not take any patients. Two ambulances transported to a local hospital. A Chaplain from the Anderson County Fire Department was seen praying with some bystanders.
Anderson, SC (October 5, 2024, 8:45 pm) – Greg Shore, Coroner advised that his office is investigating a single vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred around 2:15 pm this afternoon that injured one person and resulted in the death of another.
The crash occurred on Highway 76 (Clemson Blvd) near Williams Street in Anderson County.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Medshore EMS, Anderson County EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the Office of the Coroner responded to the incident location.
The victim was treated on the scene and transported to AnMed Emergency Department where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was also treated at the scene and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim has been identified as: SUSAN RENEE BURDETTE FANT 55-year-old Female from Anderson, SC.
The victim died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling east on Highway 76, when the driver of the vehicle appears to have lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway into a wooded area and overturned. The victim was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle resulting in multiple traumatic injuries.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. This is the second traffic fatality today in Anderson County.
