Honea Path, SC| Upstatenewstoday.com uncovered a recently filed lawsuit against The Town of Honea Path’s Clerk and Treasurer. On Friday, November 1, 2024, Britt Travis, with Scott & Associates, PC, out of Charleston, SC, representing Barclays Bank Delaware, the Plaintiff, filed a lawsuit against Amanda Porter. Porter is being sued by Barclays for defaulting on her credit card, Wyndham Rewards® backed by Barclays. Per court documents, Porter has not made a payment to Barclays since January 2024. The records indicate she owes $10,602.01. The records furthermore state that she is over her credit limit by $1,702.01. During the course of this investigation, we found one more lawsuit. On August 18, 2024, Midland Credit Management, through their attorney, filed suit against Porter for defaulting on her credit card in the amount of $8,860.17. Just like the Barclays Credit Card, she has not made a payment of this card either since January 2024.
We got a chance to speak to many residents of The Town of Honea Path about the newly discovered documents. Citizens of the Town of Honea Path expressed many concerns. Citizens mainly wanted to know if Amanda Porter has defaulted on her personal finances, how could she handle the Town of Honea Path’s finances. Citizens have long questioned the financial state of the Town.
Upstatenewstoday.com sent to the Town a Freedom of Information Act Request back in October asking for credit card statements, cell phone records, and Bank Records, to just name a few. We are still waiting for the Town to fulfill our request.
Court records indicate that Porter owes $19,462.18 in defaulted credit cards.
