Belton, SC| Cheddar Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, and Anderson County EMS Paramedic responded to Highway 20 at Sherard Rd for a car vs. motorcycle. The call came in around 7:13 pm. One fatality has been reported.
Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that an suv turned in front of a motorcycle that was traveling on Highway 20. The SUV was turning on to Highway 20 from Crawford Road.
Greg Shore, Coroner advised that his office is investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred just after 7:00 pm this evening involving and motorcycle and another vehicle.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. The collision occurred on Highway 20 and Sherard Road in Belton, SC.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Office of the Coroner responded to the incident location. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The victim has been identified as:
MICHAEL CRUZ THRASHER 24-year-old Male from Williamston, SC.
The victim died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma.
The victim was the driver of a motorcycle traveling southeast on highway 20 and struck an SUV that had turned on to highway 20 into the path of the victim’s motorcycle. The victim was wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating this accident. More information will be released when available.
