Easley, SC| Three and Twenty Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, and Anderson County EMS Paramedic responded to Old Pendleton Road for a Car vs. Motorcycle. A witness said that a motorcycle was traveling when a car turned in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the car in the side. The cyclist was taken to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.
UPDATE| (Saturday, November 9, 2024 6:00pm) Greg Shore, Coroner, advised that his office is investigating
the death of a man who died nearly one month after a motorcycle wreck in Easley.
Anderson County 911 received a call on Monday, October 14, 2024, at around 3:30pm for a man on
a motorcycle who had been hit by a car on Old Pendleton Road in Easley. Anderson County Fire
Department, Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS and the South Carolina Highway Patrol
responded to the scene. The victim was treated by responders and taken to Prisma Hospital in
Greenville where he succumbed to his injuries on November 9, 2024, at 2:35am.
The victim has been identified as:
Sanford Welborn
57-year-old male from Easley, SC
Preliminary investigation shows that the victim pulled out into the roadway on his motorcycle and
was hit by an oncoming vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was
thrown from the motorcycle.
The cause of death is multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma. The manner of
death has been ruled accidental.
The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina
Highway Patrol.
