Iva, SC| Alton Lamar Davis, 36, has been arrested after Anderson County Animal Control investigated allegations of animal cruelty. Hundreds of people shared the conditions of the animals on Facebook. Many animal groups reposted the conditions as well. Alton Davis is a former Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputy. Davis also is employed by Anderson County School District 3.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office released a statement:
An Anderson County man has been booked into the Anderson County Detention Center after he was found to have four dogs in his possession that were neglected.
On Tuesday, November 19th, Deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit were called out to an address on Sarah Simpson Road in Iva in reference to emaciated Shepherds. When Deputies arrived to the residence, they found four dogs, one in which had passed away. All of the dogs appeared to be severely emaciated and underweight. The three living dogs were surrendered to Anderson County PAWS where they are receiving extensive treatment.
Alton Davis, 36, has been charged with four counts of Ill-Treatment of Animals and one count of Improper Burial. He is currently booked at the Anderson County Detention Center where he is held under a $20,000 surety bond.
