Darrell Scott Brooks
Anderson, SC| The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said suspect 57-year-old Darrell Scott Brooks is charged with Kidnapping, Grand Larceny, and Assault with the Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct. Darrell Scott Brooks is a registered sex offender. The sheriff’s office said that Brooks asked a college student at an off-campus apartment to give him a ride to “his broken down car” late Thursday Evening. While they were on the way, the suspect forced the victim to pull into a church parking lot along Fants Grove Road in Anderson. Brooks attacked the young woman with a knife, assaulting her further by attempting to pin her down. A good Samaritan was driving by at the right place and time, per the Sheriff’s Office. The Good Samaritan heard the woman yelling for help. She was able to escape, and in doing so, Brooks took the opportunity to get behind the victim’s car’s wheel and drive to Seneca.
Oconee County Deputies witnessed Brook Crash the victim’s car and immediately took Brooks into custody. Brooks was released in the spring of 2024 after serving a heavy sentence. Brooks is currently still in the Oconee County Detention Center.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigating agency on this case. Update| Bond was denied for Mr. Darrell Scott Brooks this morning. Judge White denied his bond due to his criminal past and his danger to the public. Many people spoke at the bond hearing, including the victim. Below is the video from this morning’s bond hearing.
