Greenville County Murder Suspect Arrested in New York

Greenville, SC| Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants for 38-year-old Alejandro Bautista Martinez for the murder of Maria Hernandez. Hernandez was murdered on September 7, 2024. During the course of the investigation, Investigators learned Martinez used a sharp force object to stab Hernandez multiple times following a domestic-related dispute. A family member discovered Hernandez’s body on September 11, 2024. Martinez was located on Friday, September 13, 2024, in New York City by members of the FBI-NYPD joint task force and taken to the New York City Department of Corrections on Rivers Island, where he awaits extradition for Murder. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office released some statistics so far from 2024. The Sheriff’s Office said they have investigated 16 homicides, and 15 out of the 16 have been solved.
