Anderson County, SC| As Hurricane Helene entered, Anderson County Emergency Personnel went to work quickly. All morning long, Fire Departments, Power Companies, EMS, Police, Public Works, 911 Communications, Emergency Management, and SCDOT started to assist patients and motorists, clearing trees and putting out power line fires. All through the county, on every road, there was a tree down. Fire Departments quickly tried to clear the trees off the streets. When the main part of the storm arrived, Fire Departments were grounded from responding to trees down due to safety concerns. A tree hit two firefighters at Highway 187 and Nautical Way. From reports, the firemen were ok, just a little shaken up.
When the storm passed all facets of public service quikly got back to work.
There were two homes hit by trees, resulting in death. There will be a separate article for these two incidents.
Over 90,000 people are without power in Anderson County, SC.
