Greenville, SC| Early Sunday morning, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office reported a Murder off of Sulfer Springs Road in Greenville County. Ryan Flood with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said At approximately 1:23 a.m., the Greenville County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an altercation that led to a stabbing at the location. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male outside the apartment complex who had sustained the injuries; that individual was pronounced deceased. A person believed to be involved in the incident has been detained, but no charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is still in its early stages. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Shelton England with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 50-year-old RODARDRIC LARRAYLE DAWKINS. England said Mr. Dawkins received at least one fatal stab wound. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2024, to assist this investigation further.
Ryan Flood, PIO for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, said that investigators with the GCSO Homicide Unit have arrested 50-year-old Raymond Elijah McMichael Jr. for the murder of Rodardric Dawkins, who was stabbed to death during the early morning hours of September 29th.
During the course of the investigation, investigators learned McMichael and the victim, who lived in the same apartment complex (not the same apartment) got into an altercation that led to Dawkins being fatally stabbed.
McMichael Jr. was arrested following the incident and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center where he awaits a bond hearing for the charges of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
The GCSO investigated 19 homicides so far in 2024, 18 if which were solved.
