Anderson, SC, Canton, NC| Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride helped organize donations for farms ravaged by Hurricane Helene in the Canton, North Carolina area. McBride said that local Feed and Seed businesses’ in Anderson County, along with private citizens, donated to the cause. McBride said that he saw it on local community feeds where local farms in the Canton, North Carolina area were in need of feed, hay, electric fencing, water, and many other supplies. McBride with the assistance of these businesses was able to gather roughly $60,000 worth of supplies to send to North Carolina.
McBride said he felt the Lord leading him to help. Around 7:00 am Saturday, many members of the community came together to help load supplies onto trucks bound for Canton, North Carolina. Members of the Sheriff’s Office, Council Member, and many other volunteers loaded roughly eleven trucks. When the team arrived in Canton a long line of vehicles were waiting to drop off donations.
McBride went on to say thank you to Roger’s Feed, JB Thomas and Son, Tractor Supply, Smith & Farm Supply & Griff’s Farm & Home for partnering with the Sheriff’s Office for this drive. The Sheriff said that donations are still coming in and they plan on making another trip to Canton about the middle of the week. Supplies and donations can be dropped off behind the Sheriff’s Office. The Airport maintenance hanger had been used since the Hurricane for donation drop-offs.

WNC Livestock Exchange is located at 474 Stock Dr, Canton, North Carolina. The volunteers at WNC Livestock Exchange have created a networking system that when supplies come into their centralized center, vehicles are waiting to take the supplies into the hardest hit areas and distribute them. Upstatenewstoday.com saw many trucks coming in with hay and feed. When Hurricane Helene came through, rivers and streams flooded farmland, which left a lot of sediment and mud on the farms, covering the grass.
